Prescriptions

The easiest way to order repeat prescriptions is:

• using the GP online system: Patient Access

This account shows you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also:

• phone on 01292 267432, Monday to Friday from 10am to 12pm
• bring/post the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.30pm

We do not take repeat prescription requests via email.

Please help us by ordering your prescription in plenty of time, especially at weekends and public holiday periods. It remains the patients responsibility to ensure prescriptions are ordered in time. Occasionally the Doctors may ask to see you before issuing further prescriptions; this is to ensure that the medication that you are receiving is still the most appropriate for your needs. 

You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.

It is the patient’s responsibility to arrange collection of the prescription, and this can be done in the following ways:

• Patient prescription will be collected by the designated Pharmacy. Patient can arrange delivery where a service is offered by a chemist.
• By patient, friend or relative, at GP discretion.
• By post – the patient on this occasion should supply the Practice with stamped self-addressed envelopes. The Practice however cannot take responsibility for the length of time that these take to be delivered.

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:

• fill in our medication query form.

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner, practice nurse or practice pharmacist at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

• coughs
• colds
• sore throats
• tummy trouble
• aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
